The Issue w/ Meagan Good’s Dress


More Than Religion


As I perused my various social media feeds yesterday evening, I saw a lot of commentary on Meagan Good and the dress she wore while presenting the “Best Gospel Artist” award at the BET Awards Show last night. The battle lines were drawn. Many Christians called her out for a general lack of judgement given the fact that 1) she is a preacher’s wife and 2) she was presenting the sole award of the evening that pointed to Christ.  Other Christians, however, applauded her for embracing her femininity and sexuality and also, for not allowing the “chains” of religion to hold her hostage. Personally, while I appreciate the progressive agenda of today’s church and it’s efforts to do away with many of the traditions that have restricted the gospel from being freely spread, Mrs. Franklin’s (Meagan) choice of attire cannot be justified as such.
